The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel

3.0

I liked learning about the forgers in WWII and how Jewish people were smuggled into Switzerland , especially children. The book is based on real events. I am going to read “a good place to hide” by Peter Gross which is a non fiction account of a small town that hid children and got them to safety using forged documents. I listened to the audio book on my trip to New Orleans. The mother of the protagonist is very annoying. Maybe she was so traumatized by the events she deserves a pass but omg she whinnied the whole book.

My favorite characters were the priest, the lady book seller, the woman who hid children in her attic…

Remy and Eva were ok… the mom was my least favorite. She was unrealistically dumb .

I also wish the romance had not been the focus of the book. What happened to the children? Did they ever reunite with family?
