May I just say I was not at all expecting there to be lesbians, but omg what a great surprise! So much fun, did not see that coming.
That being said, I did want more...depth in their relationship, especially once they admitted their feelings to each other. Everything moved really quickly from then and felt too, pardon my word choice because of the subject matter of the book, easy. The epilogue makes this make a bit more sense (this is a story that's been told for generations in our future, it's morphed and changed, etc.), but I still don't know if I like that. It almost feels... pretentious? Too 4th wall breaky for me? I'm not sure. I also have a hard time with the trauma porn nature of slavery books, although this one was new and different in a lot of ways.
