Lady of Shadows
by Melissa K. Roehrich
I’m getting more and more into this series, and this book definitely kept me hooked. The book’s first half felt a bit slow and could have been shorter, but I did appreciate the focus on Scarlett’s personal development and her relationship with Sorin. Seeing more of their dynamic and getting to know Scarlett better was nice.
Now, about Callan’s POV... I found it super boring. His chapters were all about his obsession with Scarlett and didn’t add much to the plot. Plus, his character didn’t really grow or change at all. Honestly, I think the story would’ve been better without his perspective.
Things really start getting interesting after about 60% of the book. That’s when the new information and discoveries push the plot forward. I was also excited to see Scarlett’s cousin’s POV introduced. She’s such an interesting character, and I think she’s going to add a lot to the story moving forward.
So, even with some slow parts and boring POVs, "Lady of Shadows" ended up being an exciting read. I can’t wait to see how Scarlett and the rest of the gang develop in the next book
