My Friends by Hisham Matar is about Khaled and his three friends who were born and raised in Libya and later move to London to pursue their passion for writing. The book goes through the three men’s adult life leading up to and during the Libyan revolutionary war. I learned a lot from this book and really enjoyed Hisham’s writing style. However I wish the book would have gone more in depth on a character’s development. So many characters were introduced yet we never really got a character development story. I rate this book 3.5.
