Carrying Albert Home: The Somewhat True Story of A Man, His Wife, and Her Alligator by Homer Hickam

4.0

I liked this family saga about Elsie and Homer Hickam (sr.) is a touching adventure. Albert is Elsie's alligator and he's getting too big to keep so they go on an epic road trip from Coalwood, Virginia to Orlando, Florida to carry Albert home. I found it fun and endearing. The couple turns into an unlikely entourage/menagerie that runs into famous writers and survives unlikely circumstances. All in the name of love.
