The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
3.0
I am reminded yet again that I really do not like “classic novels”. This was better than I thought it was going to be, though, as I did not realize that most of this is a satire.
What really irked me at the end though was all the lit crit reviews heralding this as a work of creative genius, particularly the one by Hawthorne’s son that continually refers to Hawthorne as superior to the “average author”. All that review really told me is that Julian Hawthorne had serious daddy issues after his father wrote a whole book about adultery
