The Killer in Me
by Margot Harrison
To be completely honest, I didn't think I was even gonna finish this book. It started sort of weird and strange and not in a good way. I had trouble latching on to the threads or a reason to keep reading. However, this passed about 20% into the book and I stayed up way past my bedtime tonight to finish it.
The premise of this book is super interesting...it's sort of the "Medium" and McMann's "Wake," "Fade," and "Gone" all wrapped up together with a bit of the "Shining" thrown in for good, scary measure! I kept thinking I had it figured out and then something would surprise me. The characters are well-drawn, too, and I was able to picture them through Nina's eyes. Probably most surprising, though, was that I actually came to feel bad for Dylan (and Nina). It was a good read and I look forward to buying and recommending it to my students.
