This book is so sweet, it’s like a warm hug or the sun coming in the window in the afternoon. It’s all these hopeful little moments of people who find themselves stuck in their circumstances who get inspired thanks to an enigmatic librarian who knows exactly what to recommend.

The only things that knocked the rating down for this book is 1. By the time I got through the first 3 or 4 stories, it started feeling a little repetitive and I was losing interest in finishing the book and had to really kinda push myself and 2. The casual fatphobia in this book is WILD. Every single story the characters repeatedly lose their minds over how “huge” the librarian is, comparing her to a panda, the stay-puff marshmallow man, and Baymax, which is crazy when she’s the one who ends up doing so much to inspire all of them. It got uncomfortable to read as the book went on.
