Sadie On A Plate by Amanda Elliot
3.0

This was a cute read, but I wouldn't really classify this as a romance, it is more of a women't fiction/contemporary fiction. This book follows Sadie as she regains her confidence from an "event". I struggled with this because Sadie talked about the "event" that happened as if we knew what it was, and I thought maybe I had missed something, but not, I hadn't, it just had not been revealed. That aside, I thought this was a good exploration of knowing your self and your worth. This was all done under the umbrella of a cooking competition. There was a lot of talk about food in this book, all the descriptions and talk of it made me hungry!

While we are talking about food, we are also looking at friendships and identity. I thought it was interesting how the author explored identity in all different forms whether it is cultural or gender. I thought this was a great debut novel by this author and will check out future books by her!
