New Avengers, Vol. 4: A Perfect World by Jonathan Hickman

5.0

New Avengers, Vol 4: A Perfect World is a morality tale with the highest possible stakes. The Avengers face the defenders of an alternate Earth which is about to collide with the Marvel Earth. The alternate Earth heroes (all based on DC superheroes) are pure, noble, good, and uncomplicated. They would never consider killing anyone, let alone an entire planet, to save themselves. They insist there must be another way. Hope must prevail. The Avengers have created a device to destroy the other Earth and just doing that has tainted their souls. Doctor Strange has even offered to sell his soul for the power to destroy worlds. And when it comes down to the final seconds, who will detonate the bomb? In a nutshell, this is the type of extreme peril, moral dilemma I love in fiction.
