I don’t know about this one… as easy the world buildings and imagery from Krista Street is top tier. The FMC is a blunt, gusty wingless Solis fairy with jet black hair. She lives with her sister Cailis in poverty and shunned because of her appearance. After a run in with the cruel and abusive Archon Vorl, the crown prince Norivun, visits their village. He just takes away her. While Cailis is screaming and crying, Ilara has no choice but to leave. She is kept in the dark as to why he requires her, and she is held captive in the royal palace. Well, captive in a lush bedroom, adjoining bathroom, and personal servant kind of way.
Once I read that the reason Ilara held such hatred for the prince is because he killed her parents and brother… he admits it too…. I had a lot of trouble enjoying this book… everything romance related just was stained to me.. I’m aware I’m jumping the gun a little and maybe there’s another explanation.. but it just feels a little icky…
