Everyone on the Moon is Essential Personnel by Julian K. Jarboe

3.5

Some of these stories were five stars for me, some of them one. It's definitely worth a read for:
  • We did not know we were giants
  • As tender feet of cretan girls danced once around an alter of love (not 100% sure what was happening but the vibes were immaculate)
  • Estranged children of storybook houses
  • The nothing spot where nobody wants to stay
  • I am a beautiful bug (also I just love the name of this one)
  • First contact, communion

Self-Care and Everyone On The Moon were concepts that I utterly loved but the writing just lost me sometimes which was a real shame. I couldn't figure out if it was me losing focus or the writing being too dense and experimental for me to keep track of. Possibly a bit of both?

Overall definitely worth a read! Some of the passages and language are just breathtaking (the passage about holding a knife had me screaming). But on the other hand I found some of it really difficult to get through.
