Fifty Beasts to Break Your Heart: And Other Stories by GennaRose Nethercott
3.0
forever on a quest to find my favorite short story collection ever. having loved Thistlefoot by this author, i was excited to read this collection. i really enjoyed some of them, but a handful were just okay, and a few i didn't enjoy. even if i didn't love one, the writing was absolutely beautiful. I loved The Thread Boy, The War of Fog, and A Lily is a Lily. the author encapsulates grief really well and shows its different iterations and forms it can take. some honorable mentions include Dear Henrietta and Drowning Lessons.
overall, very weird but fun and engaging stories with stunning writing and a fairy tale thread woven through each.
