The Hollow by Jessica Verday
3.0

The book starts out at the funeral where Abbey is mourning the loss of her best friend Kristen. It was actually sad, Verday did a wonderful job depicting Abbey's pain, from losing her best friend to a drowning in a local river. At the funeral she meets Caspian, for the first time. I thought this is when it was going to get really good... however, I was not completely taken over by this story.
Yes, it was a tad bit creepy at times.
Yes, it had some romance. (There is a really good kiss in this book, btw)
Yes, it had it's intriguing moments.
Yes, it actually made me cry on page 186.
Yes, Caspian was gorgeous with those bright green eyes of his.
I know this is a trilogy, which would explain all the holes in the storyline. It just seemed to me, way too many times, something would be brought up (like Kristen's secret red diary), and barely ever mentioned or figured out. Like I said, I'm sure things will be explained more in The Haunted. Personally, I just needed a little more explanation in The Hollow, to fully keep my attention. Overall, the book was good and I will be reading the sequel soon. I want to read more about Caspian, because obviously, there was a major cliffhanger near the end. I liked that the book did make me cry during a critical moment of Abbey's. I love when an author can really grab major emotion out of the reader, and for that... I will continue to read the rest of the trilogy.
