Really good novel mixing magical realism, fantasy, and stark realism about disability care, foster care, family ties, and other issues. Although many of the main characters were not very likeable, I still found myself having a lot of empathy for them because of the stories the author shares about them. I liked that it incorporates both individual choices and social structures that affect our choices.
