Seanan McGuire is one of my favourite authors if not my absolute favourite, and this series is a major favourite of a friend of mine; I can see why she keeps coming back to it! The protagonist is a (human) cryptozoologist/professional ballroom dancer. It’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s full of humanoid and non-humanoid cryptids. It’s got kind of a grown-up Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibe.
