Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker

4.0

Three years ago, two sisters disappeared. This story starts when Cass, the younger sister, returns. It's told from her perspective & from the perspective of the forensic psychiatrist on the case, Abby.⁣

It's clear from the beginning that Cass's mom is manipulative, but what's unclear is if Cass is too - the whole time, you're not sure if you should believe her about what happened, even though you're in her head. Abby had a similar experience with her own mother & is trying to puzzle out the family dynamics to find Emma.⁣

The pace is great, little tidbits are revealed all the time to make you wonder how the rest fit together. I had parts of the ending figured out, but a lot of it was a surprise. A solid thriller.
