Chasing the Wild is book one in the Crimson Ridge series, and wow, what a way to kick things off! I’m an absolute sucker for an ex’s dad romance, and this one delivered everything I wanted from the trope.
Layla and Colton’s relationship is the perfect slowish-burn, especially as they’re forced to spend the winter snowed in together. The extra time and isolation let their connection grow naturally, while also making them confront the obstacles standing in their way…namely the fact that Layla once dated Colton’s son.
I loved the depth this added to their romance, and the push-and-pull of trying (and failing) to resist each other made the payoff so satisfying. It’s tender, passionate, and filled with that rugged cowboy charm I can’t get enough of.
Overall: An excellent start to a new series that I’m already hooked on. If you love ex’s dad, age-gap, and small-town cowboy romances, this one deserves a spot on your TBR!
