The pacing is awful in this book so I mean it when I say give it time!! Stick with it to the end!! I was so bored in part 1. I had no idea what was happening and I was really struggling with the nomenclature. A friend described this book as a “Roman inspired fantasy” and that helped shift my mindset. I switched to audio and that really seemed to help (boo Audible exclusive). Solid 3 stars at this point.
By part 2 I was interested and kept wanting more. I found myself frustrated that everything happens to fall perfectly into place for the MMC but I cared about the plot to not mind as much. This book had moved up to a 4-4.25 stars for me at this point.
By part 3 I was addicted. I couldn’t read fast enough. Everything was coming together. I thought I could see the threads being tied and then BOOM the end hit me out of left field. It was amazing. Part 3 was wow 5 stars amazing. Give me more!!
Overall Rating: 4.5/5. Not a perfect book but the end delivered. Just wow.
TW: death, gore, violence
