coritherus 's review for:
Ruination
by Anthony Reynolds
I think a lot of good decisions preceded this book, mainly the hiring of Anthony Reynolds. An author who is already familiar with a grand world with set rules and predetermined expectations (A.k.a. the Warhammer 40k universe), was a great idea. His ability to juggle a lot of characters people care about in a plot that functions, AND make it the novel to kick off the League of Legends novelised universe is on full display.
I think I only had one personal gripe with the book which was the pacing felt pretty slow, however that also isn't too much of a downside because it allows you to settle into the world. Also it may be due to me already knowing how the novel ends before I even began, but either way, a really enjoyable read and I definitely hope Riot regard it as a worthy catalyst to continue this universe in novel form!
