Releasing 10 by Chloe Walsh
challenging dark emotional sad tense medium-paced

This book is unlike any of the other in this series. I don’t feel I can rate it given the things that happen in this book. A few points I would bring up: I don’t feel like the conversations the kids have in this book early on (when they are 5-8 yrs old) accurately depicts conversations of kids in this age group. I have been an early childhood educator for well over 2 decades and the topics they discuss are way more mature than kids that age understand. Another point to bring up is if you choose to read this book really really look into the trigger warnings. So many horrific things happen to Lizzie in this book. At times I wanted to puke and stop reading. The first half of the book I feel was all trauma dumping. It’s overwhelming! The second half is more like the previous books although horrible things still happen. After reading this book I hope Chloe Walsh will give us all the closure we need in a future book so we know that the “monster” is either dead or tortured. That is the only way I will feel ok about this book. My soul is broken for Lizzie and I have gained so much respect for Hugh Biggs. I am also angry at the adults in this book and how they failed to protect their kids.
