I don't know why I kept such a bad memory of this story. I read it oh so many years ago and I never really liked the Tommy and Tuppense series that ran on TV at a time, yet I want to re-read everything by Agatha Christie. Why ? Mmmmm... Just because. No particular reason.
And I did right because I really rediscovered that couple and liked it a lot. They are lots of fun together, with extraordinary adventures happening to them. Even though I usually loathe espionage stories, this one delighted me.

"Yes, sir. Going away, sir ?"
"I'm going to the devil," said Tommy, regardless of the menial's feelings.
That functionary, however, merely replied respectfully :
"Yes, sir. shall I call a taxi ?"
