I feel like this book is a testament to Wells' skill as a writer. It's not an easy task to cast your protagonist as a empathy-lacking sociopath and then expect your readers to relate to and empathize with said sociopath but Wells manages it brilliantly. These aren't really the kind of books I enjoy reading but I was really drawn into this story and had a hard time putting it down until I was finished. That said, I will probably not continue the series. One look into John Cleaver's brain is enough for me.
