Enclave

so…there’s only one word to describe this book and that is AWESOME! — One thing i will complain about before i start is the header on the cover that says “For Fans of The Hunger Games” they need to take that shit OFF because this is a great book in its own right and deserves its own fans. i love the Hunger Games but this book doesn’t need that header…now moving on!
i guess I’ll start by saying Deuce is a bad ASS…now for some time ive been on a badass female protagonist kick. and she fits my criteria to a tee. The world is in post apocalyptic form…and i know, with all this talk of bath salts and zombies, reading a “zombie” book can be lame. but it’s not because…she wrote it in such a way that even though the zombies or “freaks” as they called them, are a prominent problem for the characters throughout the book….it doesn’t overshadow the real purpose of the story and that’s Deuce’s and Fade’s relationship and their strength and willingness to survive.
The book is written from Deuce’s point of view so you know what she knows…which isn’t much. And i’m still debating on whether or not that is intriguing or annoying. She was born into the world without ever having known what we know now. All she’s known is living in the subway channels [they’re in NYC] and fighting off the Freaks. It isn’t even until a couple of chapters into the book that you realize they’re in the subway and these ‘cars’ she keeps talking about is actually a train….
But i don’t know…i guess it kind of makes for a more interesting read. Because even though YOU know what certain things are….it’s still fascinating to discover thing and see them through her eyes….like the stars, which she thought were manmade lights flown up into the sky by humans who had wings…
i could go on and on but i won’t because there’s SO MUCH! all i can say is this book was AMAZING, hence the reason i devoured 85% of it TODAY!
oh yea….the world has been in post apocalyptic mode for quite some time so they don’t really know what certain things are, like cars, and just simple things. Some of them know how to read but they don’t know much about the past world to make much sense of what they were reading…and one thing i really liked that was funny is they have the whole
Thank You, You’re Welcome thing backwards….they use You’re Welcome as if it were Thank you and Thank You, as if it were, You’re welcome…
ie.
Person 1: Here’s a piece of fish
Person 2: You’re Welcome
Person 1: Thank You.
lmfao!
