okay so i haven’t reviewed a book properly in a hot minute. this one, “on the ravine” by vincent lam, deserves every ounce of praise. it was hard to get into, but once i got it, the plot just went 📈 📈 📈 . vincent lam never disappoints and his writing will always be able to pull me out of a reading coma. this man writes such complex and realistic characters. he also writes plot twists that make sense, and they don’t make me cringe. his prose has just the right amount of poetry crocheted into it. the most captivating descriptions of music-playing that i have ever read in a book. easily the best book i have read this year, and it broke me into a thousand tiny little particles. my first 5⭐️ of the year. this one will be really hard to top 🥲
