I enjoyed elements of this book, but ultimately I felt like it lacked direction for too much of the story. Sabine was a fun character to follow, and I liked how it shifted once Lottie was introduced, but Alice was completely underdeveloped. For the first half of the book, all she has done is gotten drunk at a party and woken up a vampire.
I also really didn't like the ending. Sabine's ending was too abrupt and easy, and I didn't like Lottie's resolution, and Alice's continued as directionless as it started.
And don't even get me started on the unnecessary and completely incorrect portrayal of the corsets in Lottie's story as rib-bruising torture devices.
Overall, by far my least favourite VE Schwab. Definitely some cool concepts and writing, but ultimately it really missed the mark.
