Personality Plus by Florence Littauer
3.0

This book was mildly helpful in examining different personality types and using what one learned in our daily interactions and marriages. My husband and I enjoyed taking the tests together and it was a great springboard to some good discussion between us.

I have one huge issue with the book and it is this; in the section looking at overcoming personal weaknesses (based on our personalities) she addresses the tendency of the Perfect Melancholy to become easily depressed. Her solution is literally, "Realize no one likes gloomy people." Gloominess is considerably different than serious depression in my opinion, and I'm not sure it's a distinction a person struggling with deep depression would be able to distinguish in themselves. I think she consciously tries to address the issue of serious depression, but it felt trite and flat in light of her other comments about the melancholy side of Perfect Melancholy.
