Pleasantly surprised that this story followed Patroclus and not the first person view of Achilles’ journey. Miller stayed true to what Greek mythology is best known for: unwavering character flaws and the Fates.
The prose is beautiful and the story moved fast. Time flew by as years were shortened into sentences. There were a few times where Miller favored the double negative, which, coupled with the more proper Greek language made for confusing text. But otherwise, the story was easy to follow and evoked emotion.
I can’t fault the core story too much because the story is a classic that she’s rendered for modern day. I feel like the end was slightly dragged out though. And while I love a good romantic tragedy, the issues of the book felt repeated one too many times in the same way.
