From Here to Eternity: Traveling the World to Find the Good Death by Caitlin Doughty

emotional funny informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

This is easily my favourite non-fiction book. Caitlin Doughty guides us through the death and funerary practices of a variety of cultures with curiosity, respect, and grace. I was entranced by the description of the glowing Buddhas, and intrigued by the early discoveries at the body farm that would eventually lead to the development of “human composting” (my first choice for the eventual disposition of my body).

As someone who was once so terrified of dead things that I couldn’t walk down the deli isle of he grocery store as a child, and would cross the street to avoid roadkill well into my 30s, I have found Caitlin’s books and YouTube videos to be life-changing. She is the perfect blend of informative, humorous, and thoughtful.
