Wearing Paper Dresses is the story of life in The Mallee in all its harshness and its beauty. It is the story of a city girl and her struggles to fit into the country way of life. It is the impact of mental illness on a family, and how when tragedy strikes, the devastation is crushing and overwhelming. It is both heartbreaking and uplifting, and is one of my most treasured reads of the year.
