Annoying. Shallow. Predictable.
Oof.
I really wanted to like this book, but I found myself frustrated at every turn.
The romance, usually my favorite part of a book, easily my least favorite part of THIS book. Holy guacamole, the chemistry is non-existent, the mind numbing swooning is annoying as hell and a lot of the dialogue is super awkward.
Every. single. twist. was predictable. So painfully predictable that there was no tension.
The "sexual tension" was basically just"I assume you don't like me even though we keep flirting and kissing" on both sides.
The last 50-100 pages were not as bad, but I won't say that that is worth it.
Also as a person with religious trauma, the first line of acknowledgments was just... wow... it all makes sense now.
