Divine Rivals
by Rebecca Ross
I went into this nearly blind - just knowing it has a lot of hype. I can officially say that, in my humble opinion, the hype is well-deserved! I became completely invested in the characters, the romance, and the setting. In equal parts, I wanted to savor and devour it.
The writing is very immersive, and I loved the WW1-meets-mythological-fantasy vibes. I found Iris to be a completely likeable character, who I couldn't help but root for. And I am now 100% on board with all the Roman love. The romance, though! Oh my swoon! I totally loved the pen pal nature of their relationship. I could be found melting into a puddle on the floor while listening to the audio, with the narrators' perfectly romantic accents.
I can't handle the ending! My heart swelled to overflowing and then felt completely torn apart by that cliffhanger ending! I need to get my hands on book two stat!
Content: wartime violence, death, one vague intimate scene
