elrize 's review for:
The Bone Shard Daughter
by Andrea Stewart
The author has good technical ability and good character writing, but the world-building is lacking. Also doesn't feel like a complete story, it ends with so many unanswered questions that it feels incomplete, requiring you to read the sequel to get closure.
The ending fight scene and death of the emperor felt very unsatisfying and strange. The last 10% of the book or so felt rushed and as if the editor didn't get to it. As if there were chapters missing too.
And let's be honest, what was the point of rewriting constructs during battle when you can just disable all of them in a matter of seconds?... felt like a huge plothole.
