First Impressions
Deadly Intent is the infamous Joaquin's book and this is a installment I have been waiting almost the whole series for because sexy Latino Joaquin I have been wanting a book so badly for. One he is sexy as sin, but also has a good heart which is rare in a journalist character even in a romance but I have to say that this author has really done solid journalistic characters (most of the ones that I have read have been toxic in many respects). So first off BRAVO to Pamela Clare for always writing solid characters you can easily resonate with. This book was jam packed, tackled tough subjects like PTSD and sexual harassment and drug abuse.
First Line
Joaquin Ramirez
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Joaquin Ramirez-Investigative Journalist
The Heroine: Mia Starr-US Army Captain
Summary
Mia Starr was once in the army, as a military captain but she is now retired and more than feeling free of getting away from the burdens she bore while on deployment. When she is in the wrong place and wrong time, she is under investigation as a murder suspect, and her one saving grace is the sexy photojournalist, Joaquin Ramirez. She doesn't trust journalists in any way....but there is something so gentle in his eyes that she trusts and he keeps being in the right spot to protect her. As they grow closer to each other, there is also a serial murderer who wants Mia dead and will stop at nothing to make sure that happens...
What I Loved
The ROMANCE Was so solid in this one and this author really captured by attention. I had started this one in audio but then picked up the ebook and I couldn't put it down so I stuck with it physically because it had me so easily engaged and I have really struggled this week on it. Both characters were beyond endearing. We see how well balanced they are as a team. There was such sweet but spicy sensuality that just vibrates off of the page. I loved how this author balances out her stories and this one was super well written. There were soft notes of culture in here that was so captivating. The tension really builds as the plot picks up pace and I was so curious to see who the villain is. We even get a POV in his perspective and yeah you won't see it coming who it is until the end. I loved that this author tends to give you the shocks of the reveals and do some unique twists. And this had me in my feels so deeply in the end there that I had to rate it so high because this book definitely deserves it!!!! I can't wait to read more from this author.
What I Struggled With
Nothing really.....I think the audio was hard to keep attention to which is why I switched to physically reading it but that might have just been my attention span as well.
Narration
Very good. I think the issue I had with the audiobook was more of a "me" issue as I normally love these narrations for the series. So if you love audiobooks....I still recommend it highly
Overall View
Deadly Intent was a captivating thriller that is bound to keep you on your toes while also delivered the deepest swoons of sensuality and tender romance.
Book Details (also in my shelves)

Character Types: Military, Journalistic, Photographer, Protector
Themes: Danger, Heart/Emotionally Touching, PTSD, Male Bonds, Interracial Bonds, Pining Hero
Tropes: Forced Proximity

Both but much more in the plot.
If you like these authors, I recommend This Book
Lani Lynn Vale
Maya Banks
Toni Anderson
Recommendation For Reading Order
You can read as a standalone, but for the serial connections it works best in order.
Steam/Spice Explanations
Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.
