The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz

Nicely done, and very much in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle. There's quite a bit here, including hidden keys, disguises, carriage chases, a sinister carnival and a locked-room mystery, all in a fairly short book.

I do wish that there were a better way to denote evil-minded individuals than children in peril, however.
