Really loved to reach the conclusion of this series. I was held HOSTAGE by the tension and trauma and battles… the only reason this lost my 5 star is that Maas has a habit of dropping some deus ex machina moments in for dramatic effect or resolving a plot she doesn’t feel like explaining properly. It’s annoying. Cases in point: “she’s been tunneling down into her power for three months.” Um, how? She’s been in iron. Where TF did that come from? Cool, but would have been cooler if she had actually planned for it. #2 was calling in fae and wolves and armies she DID NOT MEET or possibly have time to write to or prepare to the final battle at the literal last second. C’mon. She’s a badass, and I love her, but let’s be a real badass.
