She Stoops To Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith

3.0

Here's the deal, I love to read plays and I think this play was 'ok' for reading. I mean, I did think that the plot was a little flimsy and I could see the plot twists from a mile away.

While reading it, I couldn't help but feel that I'd read this play already, or maybe some other play that was very, very similar. To be fair, there's probably some movie that stole the whole plot in it's entirety and I've watched it and forgotten it. It's not like anyone is coming up with anything new these days.
"She Stoops to Conquer" has got the mistaken identity theme, a case of role reversals based on social class, and other things that people from the 1700's found very funny.

However, I don't think reading this play did it justice. I believe I had better go and see "She Stoops to Conquer" performed on the stage before I go blathering any opinion regarding it's quality. And I think this conclusion is a sound one because plays are meant to be performed, not just read. It's probably way better acted out on the stage.
