Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker
5.0
Honestly I have never thought that sleep is THAT important and therefore didn't ever think that a book about sleep would be fun or informative, I mean all I knew was if I sleep well I will only be more energized and I even started to train to get less sleep , in my defense it left me more time to study and shit like that, the media and school and college seem to send an invisible message that sleep is for the lazy and to prove yourself among them you need to sleep less .
On one day I was bored and wanted to pick a non fiction book and my hand fell on this historical treasure " why we sleep " only when I started to get into it and was halfway through it did I understand that getting sleep must be our 1ry focus and getting less sleep to get higher marks or to be more productive is actually dumb , stupid and counterproductive. The book illustrated how sleep does have a crucial rule not only on creativity and memory but on our physical and mental health . I mean who could have thought that getting less sleep will put you in higher chance of getting cardiovascular diseases and depression and anxiety ... who could have thought that our doctors and surgeons are more prone to diagnostic and medical malpractice by more that 5 times when they are under-slept and anyone in the medical profession would swear by these sleepless nights during residency.
In conclusion read this book and see how we as a society are killing ourselves slowly by getting less sleep .
