Cruel Illusions by Margie Fuston

The start was promising, but the plot was obvious, the love triangle was annoying and overdone, and the stakes for the deaths never felt real. Ava was bleh, Roman and Xander both felt generic, and none of the friendships seemed solid like it’s been a few weeks I never felt like they actually care about each other. Also Ava training to kill vampires by watching movies was so cringey

The ideas for the vampire vs magic vs blood stuff and the horror blood garden were actually really cool, but would have been a better fit in an adult/horror novel instead of trapped in the silly love triangle.
