thanks, Aidan, for insisting I read this.  I LOVED the dark humour and the completely weird story, but confess I'm not sure I completely GET IT.  I totally understand the "why", but am a bit confounded by the "how" of this story.  (Although I feel this is a "me" problem", it is why I haven't given the book a perfect score. ) As a commentary on racism, it is perfect.  I'm now looking for the right mature students to share this with, and am sure my English Lit teacher friends will also enjoy it.
