The story was interesting, as well as the world it is set in. However, I was no invested in the characters' love story. The first time they interacted they didn't like each other, then the second time their feelings changed so much, it felt like I just blinked and then boom, love was blossoming, but I didn't believe that since their second encounter happened the day after they first met. Basically their love felt so rushed and there wasn't a solid foundation for it to grow, in my opinion.
Other than that, Sorcha and Eammon, as individual characters were very interesting. There was so much more to know about Sorcha than what it was initially mentioned. As for Eammon, he was a tortured sould and my heart ache for him. He deserved to be happy.
I thought this was a standalone, but you can imagine my surprise when I finish this book and it ends abruptly with no happy ending in sight.
I am tempted to read the sequel just to know what other secrets I might learn, and because I truly liked Sorcha and Eammon. However, like I said, the relationship between these two felt so unreal that I was just reading their scenes without a real strong emotion like excitement or happiness, it was like meh.
I'm also curious to know more about Eammon's twin. He is the bad guy, but there is so much more to know about him and hopefully there'll be more of him in the sequel.
But like I said, I'm still not sure if I want to give the second book a try considering this one was not that memorable for me. I'll think about it in the next few days.
