Weave Them And Reap by Essie Suter
3.0
Rating: 2.5/5
Spice level: 4/5
Tropes: Reverse Harem, Fated Mated, Grumpy and Sunshine
This story follows a destiny weaver named Echo. She thought she was content with teleporting humans and non-humans on tours of wild and sometimes disastrous places, with her not-so-happy sister, Jet. However she gets thrust into a mission to find a missing weaver, who helps determine where the souls of the recently deceased are destined to go. Echo with the help of a standoffish reaper, a fun-loving wolf shifter, and an overly affectionate dragon shifter, must find the weaver and return her to a garden overflowing with souls.
I truly believe this was a fun book to read. The characters were cute, the mystery was fun, and everything about the weavers interested me. I also do love myself a good reverse harem story, especially when it involves fated mates. This is a quick read that actually does a good job at wrapping the story up as a standalone.
Where it fell through was the pacing and the way characters were written at times. There were parts of the story that I felt should of had more information and storyline on. One example is the gate itself. They do explain that it is a trapped princess in a extra chapter at the end of the story, but I think that would have been nice to know during the story as well. Echo can talk to this gate by why can’t Soren or Brogan? There was a ton of time spent on the mystery in the beginning and then it almost felt like it was forgotten midway through the book. Didn’t feel like a smooth transition between plots either. I also feel like although the love interests had different personalities, they were sometimes written too similarly alike that I didn’t believe it was actually coming from that character. They all had a sort of golden retriever quality about them. It was especially weird coming from the so-called cold reaper, Soren. My favorite part of reverse harems are the fact that the MMCs are always very different from one another. There were also times where a character seemed to go through a ton of emotions at one time and didn’t quite make sense to me.
Overall, I do think this is a good book if you want something fun and quick to read! Some parts made me chuckle. The mystery was fun to follow and try to solve! I would still recommend this standalone. Also interested to see how Wren’s story plays out in the next book!
