There was a time that this was my favorite Star Wars book. I liked the characters even if I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style. Rereading it after 6 years, it just feels like a sprawling mess. POV shifts are frequent, which isn’t automatically a problem, but it keeps shifting to one-off characters who often have nothing to do with the plot at all. I think it’s trying to set a tone and worldbuild but it didn’t work for me. The main characters I was attached to got barely any screen time because of all these cutaways. There were some moments I still enjoyed but it was a disappointing reread for me.
