A Night of Wings and Starlight by Alexis L. Menard

4.0

“Watchers aren’t mortals. They’re ancient beings, as old as the gods. Bad things have happened to humans who end up…involved with them.”

3.5-4 stars

I enjoyed it! If you’re looking for something that’s fast-paced with a sweet romance this is definitely the book for you. You have Celestials, a kick-ass heroine, betrayals, and more! The world building was also amazing. And the sexy times?? *heart eyes emoji* Hooboy!! It was SO good!!

I do think the story could’ve been longer so the characters could be fleshed out a bit better. I would’ve liked to see a little more of Arya’s history under the mountain rather than be told about it. I think I would’ve connected with her a bit better. Everyone else felt a little too one dimensional. Especially the villain…The ingredients are there to make a very well-rounded out baddie.

The romance: Sadly insta-love (even when paired with a certain trope) is an instant!no for me. I crave the slow burn, makes the endgame all the more sweet and satisfying.

All in all, it’s a nice and light fantasy read. At least it was for me! I think the author has a lot of potential to create some amazing stories so I’ll stick around and see what else she has to share with us.
