The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer
5.0
(This is a reread review)
When I first read this book in 2022, I gave it a 4.5 star review. I’m glad to say that I was delusional for ranking it that low because this is a 5 star read, no doubt in my mind. This book is incredible, yes, even second time around. It is a page turner. I haven’t read many space books so this has raised the bar high for any space books I read in the future. I really wanted to forget the “twist” from when I first read this book, but it’s to memorable to forget—that’s how good it is. This book was emotional reflecting on all of the human emotions. I cried and I pondered. I loved the characters and I’m excited now that there’s a sequel!! Pick up this book, you won’t regret it!
