What an unexpectedly emotional and totally expected action filled book! This was a great follow up to Dread Nation and finale to the duology. The theme of this book is survival and revenge and those emotions are so well described that they almost jump off the page.

I have to say this book seemed pretty different from the first book, in a good way. The first book did a wonderful job of introducing the character, focusing on the perils of this alternate shambler, post-war filled world. The character development was much deeper in this book and I really felt like I got to know and understand Katherine and Jane. Also the friendships! Really well written, interesting, and deep friendship. Also we get to see more of the dynamics of this country and how it treats different people based on gender, class, and race.
