This Will Be Funny Later by Jenny Pentland, Jenny Pentland

4.0

Equal parts heartbreaking and humorous.

Jenny Pentland has lived a life that breaks my heart. Although she seems in a good place now, so many times I wanted to just hug the teenager she was and hope someone would just listen to her.

She doesn't seem bitter or angry with her parents but the PTSD has to be real. What they did to her, I would find unforgivable. Her mother's shot at fame was truly at the expense of her family. I'm not placing blame - the opportunities her mom had were enormous and the expense was huge as well. A choice that didn't have a good outcome either way.

It does underscore how the children of the famous don't live a blessed life.

Jenny did a good job of telling the story of her life without much bitterness and I don't know how she feels about her mother now. It was a good read but left me sad for any child that has to go through what she did.
