Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

5.0

Absolutely adore this series. Townsend weaves a wonderful, enthralling, mysterious, dark and humourous tale that reminds me of childhood incarnate, of first discovering my love for fantasy and wonder while not losing any complexity around themes or worldbuilding. She never talks down to her audience and makes a story that is incredible for all ages, it still pricks my back in the fear and anticipation, not sure where Mog is going to end up. I love the magic, I love Nevermoor and the world and twists we find.

And I am dying to find out what comes next in Morrigan's story, as she embarks on a new future and as she grows into her teens. I have no doubt Townsend will do a brilliant job of aging this stiry up as she grows older. I can see the tendrils of this dark tale weaving and I cannot wait to follow, to unfurl the mysteries to see where she ends up in the end. I have a sneaking suspicion it might suprise us all.

I also want to go to that secret library. And I liked the humanizing side of Rook, that conversation sitting on the floor, the unknown side of herself. The continual exploration into Morrigan's uncertainity and feeling of aloneness even in the midst of Jupitar, Jack, Cadance and Hawthorne and the staff, that she feels alone looking at her family or the Swifts. Even though the hotel supports her, I love the hotel, the moods, Frank the vampire dwarf, conversations on rscism, humanity of villians and fear, I really live everything about it. It's fullnessm it's whimsy, emotion and darkness.
