The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

...And then I continued crying for ever and ever.
I can't begin to express how I feel about this series. I picked up The Fifth Season from the bookstore three days after it was released by happenstance, and fell head over heels within 4 pages. Obelisk Gate has the same magic. well, mostly - it loses a liiitle bit of the mystery now that you know more or less what's going on...until you figure out that you in fact, don't. Jemisin delights in keeping secrets from the reader, but never in a way that annoys you are makes you want to stop reading. You just have to keep going, because you get so caught up in the characters that you don't care about anything else. I just...dang. I love these books so darn much.

Also lmao I forgot to update this when I actually read it over christmas break because I'm a mess. I read it in the space of a day and a half, when I should have been socializing with my family. Instead I sat on the couch and read for hours straight. No regrets.
