A Whole New World
by Liz Braswell
I loved Aladdin as a kid (I even dressed up as him and wielded a plastic sword) so when I first saw this book I was super excited to get my hands on it. All too quickly, I realised this wasn't going to he a good book. It is a kids book (well, YA) and so yeah not always gonna get top quality with that genre, but I'm still appalled at how bad the dialogue was (apart from that taken directly from the movie and even then that didn't feel quite right). It reads like a 21st century teen drama. It just didn't fit with the setting.
The characterisation wasn't all that great either. The narration didn't suck me and make me want to keep reading, it was flat and dull.
